About the Restaurant

Hõlm, meaning 'islet' in Estonian, is one of the country's most unique dining destinations. Set on a small island in the Emajõgi River that flows through Tartu, this Michelin Guide restaurant has pioneered the farm-to-fork concept in Estonia, sourcing nearly all ingredients within a few kilometers of the kitchen.

The restaurant's own gardens supply herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers throughout the growing season. Local farmers deliver dairy, meat, and grains, while foragers bring wild mushrooms, berries, and greens from the surrounding forests. Even in winter, preserved, fermented, and smoked ingredients maintain the hyperlocal philosophy.

Dining at Hõlm is as much about the setting as the food. Guests cross a small bridge to reach the island, where the rustic-elegant dining room opens onto riverside terraces. In summer, the long Estonian evenings create a magical atmosphere. The creative menu changes constantly, ensuring no two visits are ever the same.
